Physician DEA License Requirements On-Demand Videos
To prescribe controlled substances in Alabama, physicians must have both a federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration and a state-issued Alabama Controlled Substances Certificate (ACSC). New DEA requirements mandate a one-time, eight-hour training or up to 8 1-hour activities on treating opioid or other substance use disorders topics. To maintain an ACSC, physicians must also have a current DEA registration, and they need to provide their DEA information to the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners when applying for and renewing their ACSC.
